Probate is the court supervised legal process through which: a deceased person’s estate is properly distributed to heirs and designated beneficiaries and any debt owed to creditors is paid off; legal title to the decedent’s property held in the decedent’s name alone and not otherwise distributed by law is transferred to heirs and beneficiaries; if the decedent left a last will and testament, the court will authenticate it; and much more.

The probate process goes far beyond the courtroom.

It also includes locating and determine the value of the decedent’s assets, paying their final bills and taxes, and working closely with the beneficiaries to make sure that the decedent’s intent is followed through with.
